Anthropology is an analysis of what makes us human. Anthropologists study human language, history, environments, remains of biology and resources. It is a broad discipline that continuously integrates new technology and ideas that split Anthropology into three subfields:

2. Roles and Responsibilities of a Anthropology and Archaeology

    • Archaeology is a multi-disciplinary science integrating knowledge of geology, anthropology, history etc. Archaeologists study old monuments, inscriptions, excavation sites, etc., delving into significant phases of human activity to study its influences on life. Archivists study documents for finding historical evidence.
    • Archivists study objects and structures recovered by excavation to identify, date, and authenticate them and to interpret their significance.
    • Research, survey, or assess sites of past societies and cultures in search of answers to specific research questions.
    • Write, present, and publish reports that record site history, methodology, and artefact analysis results, along with recommendations for conserving and interpreting findings.
    • Describe artefacts' physical properties or attributes, such as the materials from which artefacts are made and their size, shape, function, and decoration.
    • Present the findings from archaeological research to peers and the general public.
    • Compare findings from one site with archaeological data from other sites to find similarities or differences.
    • Record the exact locations and conditions of artefacts uncovered in diggings or surveys, using drawings and photographs as necessary.
    • Assess archaeological sites for resource management, development, or conservation purposes and recommend methods for site protection.
    • Create a grid of each site and draw and update maps of unit profiles, stratum surfaces, features, and findings.
    • Collect artefacts made of stone, bone, metal, and other materials, placing them in bags and marking them to show where they were found.
    • Consult site reports, existing artefacts, and topographic maps to identify archaeological sites.
    • Teach archaeology at colleges and universities.
